Faculty Research Affiliates
Research Affiliates focus on sustainability-oriented research opportunities, particularly those involving external funding. This group builds connections with existing research units on campus, including the Institute for Policy and Social Research (IPSR), the Center for Environmental Policy, the KU Energy Council, CReSIS, the Kansas Biological Survey, the KU Biodiversity Institute, The Commons, and others. Research affiliates may form subgroups to reflect their areas of emphasis (environment, social justice, energy, etc.). CFS hopes to develop a searchable database of researchers and their interests to facilitate the establishment of multi-disciplinary KU research teams in order to respond to RFPs.
Faculty Teaching Affiliates
These faculty members incorporate some type of sustainability content into their courses, or wish to do so in the future. Teaching Affiliates meet once or twice per year to discuss sustainability in the classroom, and/or to hear from others who have experience with particular teaching approaches. CFS seeks to enhance the experience of these affiliates through partnerships with the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Center for Service Learning.
Affiliates have no formal obligations to CFS. However, they should be willing to assign appropriate credit to the Center for research projects, research grants, service-learning courses, and course projects.
If you are interested in designation as an affiliate of the Center for Sustainability, please contact the
CFS Director of Academic Program. You can also view a list of
current affiliates.
