Sustainability Leadership Awards

Sustainability Leadership Awards recognize the achievements of individuals, programs, and projects that make important contributions to sustainability at KU while upholding values of environmental, economic, and social responsibility. Nominees exhibit outstanding leadership and creativity in addressing issues of sustainability on the KU campus or in the broader community through education, research and service. Recipients are selected based on the the following qualities:
Students
- Promote sustainability through research or other student-initiated projects
- Inspire fellow students and others in the campus community to live more responsibly
- Demonstrate leadership in a project or organization that has made a significant contribution to environmental protection and/or social justice
- Demonstrate outstanding actions, contributions, and leadership in supporting sustainability at KU
Faculty
- Create connections with the community through research or student projects
- Encourage student involvement in research and other projects that address sustainability
- Create a work environment that incorporates sustainability (e.g. waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, etc.) into practice
- Demonstrate outstanding actions, contributions, and leadership in supporting sustainability at KU
Staff
- Create a work environment that incorporates sustainability (e.g. waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, etc.) into practice
- Inspire co-workers and others throughout the campus community to participate in sustainable behaviors
- Positively impact the local community through volunteer opportunities that address environmental and/or social issues
- Demonstrate outstanding actions, contributions, and leadership in supporting sustainability at KU
Program/Projects
- Contribute to the advancement of sustainability on campus and/or in the local community
- Engage in collaborative efforts with campus departments, disciplines, and/or community partners
Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2011 Sustainability Leadership Awards. We encourage you to nominate deserving individuals and projects. Nomination forms are available for download below and must be submitted electronically by 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 6. Award winners will be announced during Campus Sustainability Week (October 24-28).Open Nomination Form
