Sustainability Ambassadors Working Groups

Sustainability Ambassador Working Groups

Sustainability Ambassadors have formed working groups addressing specific issues of sustainability on campus. These groups meet throughout the year to seek collaborative solutions to the challenges we face in becoming a more sustainable institution. Current working groups and their projects include:

  • Education and Outreach - In order to become a more sustainable campus, we need to be able to share information about the most effective strategies. This group is developing opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to learn more about greening their lifestyles and to engage our campus in practices that will make a difference.
  • Green Procurement - Buying green can help reduce our energy and resource use and support a more sustainable economy. Currently, this working group is examining the use of recycled-content paper and has plans to look at other products used on campus.
  • Student Involvement - The ambassador network is expanding to include student representatives. This group is working on a process to recruit students for the program and link student volunteers to projects on campus
  • Technology - IT can provide a number of solutions that help reduce energy and resource use. This group is exploring strategies for reducing our waste through the increased use of digital files, duplex-capable printers, and other technologies.
